Electric bike charger being presented to Woodhouse

TOP UP ON THE GO WITH STIRLING’S NEW E-BIKE FAST CHARGERS

Six new fast chargers have been rolled out across Stirlingshire to allow cyclists to top up their e-bike batteries on the go.

New Bosch chargers are now available to use free of charge at The Woodhouse by Kippen, Allanwater Brewhouse in Bridge of Allan and Stirling Central Library.

Woodhouse café manager Chris Law said: “We’re always looking for new ways to innovate and support customers to be more sustainable. These fast chargers will make us the perfect pit stop for cyclists exploring West Stirlingshire.”

It is hoped the scheme will encourage customer footfall, as well as promoting active travel.

Brewery proprietor Douglas Ross added: “We hope the new chargers will attract more cyclists to visit the array of shops and eateries we have here in Bridge of Allan while their battery is on charge.”

The new chargers are an extension of a scheme already in operation across Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, which is supported by Forth Environment Link, Forth Valley and Lomond LEADER and Loch Lomond and the Trossachs Countryside Trust.

Forth Environment Link’s Stirling Active Travel Hub Project Officer Holly Hunter said: “These three new locations in and around Stirling, will help us create a comprehensive network of charging points for e-cyclists in Stirlingshire.

“This has been made possible with funding from Cycling UK’s Shift Fund which aims to get more people cycling for everyday journeys and grant funding from Paths for All’s Smarter Choices Smarter Places.”

To help promote the new chargers, Forth Environment Link is running a series of led rides this month:

Tuesday 22nd March – 2-3.30pm from Stirling Central Library

Thursday 24th March – 2-3.30pm from The Allanwater Brewhouse

Thursday 31st March – 2-3.30pm from The Allanwater Brewhouse
