Stag Bites The Hog is run by husband and wife team, Liam and Beth Davies.
Beth said: “We both always wanted to have our own business. We met working in a hotel kitchen and then worked together at various different restaurants – so we knew we could work together well. Starting a business with your husband/wife is not for the faint hearted!”
The idea for the food truck came from their honeymoon in Dubai.
Beth added: “After Liam recovered from a long term illness we went on a belated honeymoon in 2019 and ate from loads of food trucks in Dubai, then came home and decided to just go for it! We searched the UK to find our perfect van and found our Citroen H Van in Sussex. We named him Ronnie and Stag Bites The Hog was born.
“We now travel around Central Scotland attending Street food markets, festivals and events serving up our delicious slow cooked and smoked meats.”
Stag Bites The Hog cooks up quality Scottish meats in the best way – low ‘n’ slow; an exciting local alternative to your usual takeaway meal.
Liam said: “We regularly change our menu and are always researching new and interesting flavour combos.
“The two of us mainly run everything ourselves, but unfortunately our baby boy isn’t quite old enough yet to be taking orders out on the van, so you’ll often find either Beth’s sister Kayla or one of our many chef friends helping out at busier events.
“Last year we moved into a unit in Alloa and are now able to keep up with the demand of food prep and even managed to create assemble at home kits during lockdown to keep everyone’s food cravings satisfied. Our new base has helped us create a network of the best local suppliers.”
