Louise Paterson set up the business in 2017, indulging a life long passion for baking:
“I’ve always loved baking and as a wee girl enjoyed spending lots of time with my Mum and Nana making cakes.
“Many of my recipes have been handed down through the generations.
“As my 3 children were growing up fast, I had a little more
time on my hands. So I decided now was my chance to take the plunge and start up my own business. I loved the concept of an honesty hut so looked into how I could make it happen.
“I then asked a friend to build me a wooden shed and fenced off an area at the side of the road in the pony field.
“My favourite colour is blue, so the paint brushes came out and my quaint little aqua blue hut opened in May 2017.
“My family and friends got their thinking caps on and we finally decided on Lou’s Bake Stop as the name, which I love.”
Lou’s Bake Stop works as an honesty hut and is open March – November, 10am – 7pm at Woodend Farm, Balfron. Special orders are welcome all year round.
Lou added: “I bake all the cakes myself and as I’m a bit of a perfectionist the rest of my family know to stay out of the kitchen when I’m busy! My daughters help me out when needed, looking after the hut at weekends and if I’m attending any local events.
“I love the fact that the honesty hut is quite unique and quirky with visitors of all ages stopping by for treats.”
Postal boxes are available during the winter months, as Louise explained:
“I’ve recently starting doing postal cake boxes which have been a huge hit, especially this year as we are all missing our loved ones. It’s such a treat receiving unexpected cake through the post.”
