Butchery has been Graham’s passion since he left school at 15 to work at his local butcher’s shop in Aberfoyle. Over the decades, he has honed his craft, even spending two months in France to master European butchery techniques at a prestigious butchery college near Paris.
“Butchery is all I’ve ever known,” says Graham. “I wanted to create something special – providing farms with a complete butchery service while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship.”

Denholm’s Elite Meat has grown through word of mouth over the past two years, now working with various local farms, including fellow Forth Valley Food and Drink members Duncan Family Farms, Old Leckie Farm and West Moss-side Organic Farm.
Graham processes and returns the meat to farms for direct sale while also offering select cuts to the public from his Aberfoyle unit.
“We take pride in every cut,” says Graham. “Venison is one of our specialties, and it’s rewarding to see more local people seeking out locally sourced, high-welfare meat.”
True to its name, Denholm’s Elite Meat is dedicated to delivering only the highest quality cuts. Every product reflects Graham’s meticulous approach, ensuring excellence in flavour, texture and presentation.
To cater to a wider audience, the business has also developed a gluten-free range, which has been a hit among customers looking for specialist dietary options.
“Our gluten-free range has really taken off,” says Graham. “It’s important to offer something for everyone while keeping the quality second to none.”

Graham has noticed a growing trend of consumers wanting to buy directly from farms, appreciating the provenance and low food miles associated with local produce.
“People care more than ever about where their food comes from,” he says. “By working with local farms, we’re not only ensuring quality but also supporting the local food network and reducing our environmental impact.”
Over his career Graham has earned numerous accolades, including Young Butcher of the Year, and has competed at the Craft Butcher finals against the UK’s top talent. His dedication to the craft is evident in every cut, ensuring Denholm’s Elite Meat remains a trusted name in the community.
“My goal has always been to provide the highest quality meats,” says Graham. “Winning awards has been a great experience, but what matters most is delivering top-quality locally sourced produce that people can trust.”
