Blairmains Farm Shop and Coffee Bothy threw open its doors in June 2001, as a farm diversification project to safe guard the future of the family farm.
Owner Graeme Logan said: “Our goal was to provide the local community with great tasting, fresh homemade meals and coffees, combined with a well-stocked shop full of local produce at a reasonable price.”
Just a short drive from Stirling and on the popular hillfoots tourist trail, Blairmains is a bustling place.
Graeme added: “We find that our central location, coupled with a very good public bus service and a large local population living within a 20 mile radius, means that we are always very busy and easy to get to.
“We have great transport links via two very busy roads, the A91 to the North, and the Alloa road to the South.
“With free onsite parking and everything on one level, we’re a very accessible and popular coffee stop and lunch spot.”
The family business has grown from 8 to 60 staff over the past two decades to keep up with customer demand.
Graeme said: “Prior to opening in June 2001, the farm was previously run as a dairy. With the every changing climate in dairy farming and decreasing profit margins, the decision was taken, with a lump in John’s throat, to open up a farm shop and coffee shop in order to safeguard the farm’s future.
“Within the first year we realised that we were on to a winner, and with hard work and determination the business started to grow rapidly.
“Over the last 20 years we have extended the premises six times and have recently been granted permission for a further development.”
He added: “In December 2007 we opened up the Coffee Bothy Express, a second coffee shop on site. This was to help with the large queues that we had every lunch time and to help further increase footfall.
“This was a roaring success and in the years that followed our popularity only continued to increase.”
Blairmains farm shop and Coffee Bothy has an ethos of hard work and family values, as Graeme explained: “We know our staff give us 100% effort and commitment, and this is reflected in the high standard of customer service that we provide.
“Another of our key strengths is the quality of the product that we produce from our Farm Shop kitchen.
“This is done by sourcing only the best ingredients.
“We believe in offering our customers the best possible homemade produce at a price that delivers great value for money.
“Our coffee shops offer a wide and varied menu that caters for all needs, and our farm shop has a huge selection of foods, gifts.
“We are constantly striving to improve our business and hope to increase our homemade deli section, which will allow us to showcase our brand on a larger, and more prominent scale.
“This will help increase foot fall and allow us to focus more of our attention on local produce, rather than sourcing items from further afield, helping to reduce our carbon footprint.”
