BACK TO THE FUTURE OF FOOD: CHEFS OF TOMORROW EVENT RETURNS

Forth Valley' College's  annual 'Chefs of the Future' event made a triumphant return on Thursday 7 March after a break due to the pandemic. 

Organised in collaboration with STEP and Forth Valley Food and Drink network, the event brought together aspiring chefs, industry professionals and community supporters for an unforgettable evening.

Stacey Spence from Forth Valley Food and Drink Network said: “Seeing the passion of our local hospitality students and the steadfast support from our partners and community has been truly uplifting.

“As Forth Valley’s regional food group, we’re dedicated to nurturing the growth and sustainability of our local food and drink scene. We take great pride in our involvement in this effort and eagerly anticipate continuing to champion and celebrate the next generation of chefs and hospitality professionals.”

Since its inception in 2015, the ‘Chefs of the Future’ event has been a showcase of talent and innovation, spotlighting the culinary skills of Forth Valley College’s hospitality students while fostering connections within Stirling’s food and drink industry.

This year’s gathering was no exception, as local restaurants joined as honored guests to enjoy a delicious three-course meal expertly prepared by Forth Valley College’s students. From canapés to desserts, each dish reflected the students’ dedication, creativity and culinary prowess.

“The ‘Chefs of the Future’ event was a remarkable testament to the resilience and talent within the culinary community,” remarked Karyn King, Operations Manager for Forth Valley College. “The dedication and creativity displayed by the students were nothing short of extraordinary. Together, we are nurturing the next generation of chefs and hospitality professionals, ensuring a vibrant future for our students.”

Jenn McArthur, the Marketing and Business Development Director at STEP added: “I’m delighted to have been part of the Chefs of the Future event. It was wonderful to see the event back post-COVID and reconnect with so many incredible hospitality businesses in the area.

“The mission to showcase the amazing talent at Forth Valley College is truly inspiring, and we’re lucky to have such a resource on our doorstep. A massive thanks to the talented students who looked after us, both front and back of house. I can’t wait to start planning for next year’s event.”

Beyond its gastronomic delights, ‘Chefs of the Future’ serves a broader purpose: fostering employment opportunities for the next generation of chefs in the local hospitality sector. The support from Stirling’s food and drink industry is pivotal, providing students with invaluable mentorship and networking avenues for their post-graduation careers.
