5 TOP TIPS FOR TAKING PHOTOS OF FOOD

Talented professional photographer Julie Howden has been capturing our amazing local food heroes during lockdown.

Here are her top five tips for food photography:

Light is everything to opt for bright spaces or even outdoors.

Use a neutral background and avoid distracting patterns which may take attention away from the food.

Keep it simple and avoid unnecessary clutter. Only use props which add to the overall image. Everything in the frame should be accounted for.

Think about colour and how it impacts on the overall feel of your image.

Experiment with the angle you take your shots from to find the best for the food you are presenting.
