JOIN THE BREASTFEEDING FRIENDLY SCOTLAND SCHEME

At Forth Valley Food and Drink we’re passionate about healthy food and bringing together local producers, café owners and foodies over our shared love of good food.

But what if we told you that there’s another way to support both sustainable, healthy eating and the local community for free?

The Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland scheme offers a unique opportunity to do just that. In this blog post, we’ll explore the importance of this national initiative and hopefully encourage more venues in Forth Valley to get involved.

The Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland Scheme

The Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland scheme, initiated by the Scottish Government, aims to create a supportive environment for breastfeeding mothers. Its primary goal is to encourage venues and establishments to become more welcoming to breastfeeding mothers by providing comfortable and inclusive spaces.

Why Should Our Members Get Involved?

Community Engagement: Becoming a breastfeeding-friendly venue shows your commitment to your local community. It demonstrates that you care about the well-being of local families, fostering a sense of inclusivity.

Health and Well-being: The Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland scheme promotes not only the health of infants but also the well-being of mothers. It creates a comfortable and supportive environment for breastfeeding, reducing stress and anxiety for mothers while dining out.

Positive Public Image: By participating in this initiative, your venue gains a positive image as an inclusive and family-friendly establishment. This can attract a broader customer base and increase your visibility in the community. You’ll also be added to a national map of Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland venues and will be promoted on the scheme’s local Facebook page.

How to Get Involved

Joining the Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland scheme is a straightforward process.

Reach out: Email kirstine.dymott@breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk to find out more!

Staff Training: Train your staff to be aware of their responsibilities under the law and support breastfeeding mothers. Encourage them to provide assistance when needed and make mothers feel at ease.

Promote Your Participation: Once you’ve joined the scheme, proudly display the Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland sticker in your window or at the entrance. This signals to mothers that they are welcome to breastfeed in your establishment.

Spread the Word: Share your involvement on social media, your website, and within the Forth Valley Food and Drink network to encourage other venues to participate as well.

Our members The Woodhouse and Weigh Ahead are already part of the scheme, so why not join them!
