The Food Hub

The Bridge of Allan and Stirling Food Hub was established in May 2020, using the Great British Food Hub platform; offering the local community a safe way to shop during the pandemic and beyond.

SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY & PRODUCERS

The Hub has allowed people to shop for local produce from the comfort of their homes. A wide choice of produce is on offer every week, with deliveries on Wednesday evenings.

Hub host Judith Gray said: “As many residents of our local community were in isolation or shielding, or didn’t want to go out shopping, we chose to offer a safe, free doorstep delivery service each Wednesday.”

The new service has also helped support local producers, as Judith explained: “Through our farmers’ market contacts, we were able to sign up many local small producers as well as others from across Scotland, and now have over 30 trading with us on our hub. Many of these producers have faced great challenges over the past six months, so having a weekly outlet for their produce has been a real help.”

FAMILY RUN

The hub is run by Judith and her partner Nick, with the support of their daughter Jen who helps with deliveries.

Judith said: “We take care when delivering the orders and are proud of the quality and selection of produce that we deliver. Many customers order every week, others less often, but we are very grateful for every order placed at the hub. Our free delivery service and ‘no minimum order’ policy means that some customers can buy themselves a wee treat, a box of eggs, a loaf, a jar of honey, or whatever, whilst others do a big weekly shop. This sets us apart from other food delivery companies.”

She added: “Our hub is evolving and growing every week and we’re  excited about our future.”
